The Augurs Divination

Cast the Triskelion

In the world of Ertha, beneath the light of three suns, the Augurs of the Navigator’s Guild practice the Triskelion — a formal casting tradition that reads the sky not for weather, but for meaning.

Before the Cast

The Augur does not cast on impulse. The Triskelion requires a formed question and a moment of intentional stillness. Ask silently or aloud.:

What do I need to know?  (Solmara’s voice will answer this)

What have I not yet learned?  (Vaelith’s voice will answer this)

What is devouring this situation from underneath?  (Nyzorith’s voice will answer this)

The Casting Steps

You have three d8s. Each die belongs to one of the Trinity Suns — Solmara the Elder, Vaelith the Warden, and Nyzorith the Devourer. Each die carries eight runes drawn from the Elder Futhark and reinterpreted through the lens of Ertha’s celestial mechanics. Roll all three, identify which rune landed face-up on each die, and select it in the interface below.

Hold all three dice in both hands. Close your eyes. Form your question. Feel the weight of all three suns in your palms.

Cast

Let them fall naturally. Do not arrange them. Do not recast unless a die has not settled.

Read the dice by color and type. The amber-gold die is Solmara’s (Past/Foundation). The darker die is Nyzorith’s (Hidden/Shadow). The smoky die is Vaelith’s (Present/Motion). Identify which rune faces up on each.

Which Season

Note the current celestial state. What season is it? Which sun is dominant? Which moons are in aspect? The orrery — if present — provides this context. The celestial state modifies the reading (see Section V).

Read the Runes

Always read as one statement. Speak Solmara’s rune first (the condition). Speak Vaelith’s rune second (the action or force). Speak Nyzorith’s rune last (the shadow or consequence). The reading emerges from the relationship, not the individual runes.

Light or Shadow

For each rune, determine which face it shows. If you felt drawn to the cast and the session is going well, read the Light meaning. If the cast felt heavy or the situation is dire, read the Shadow. If uncertain, the Augur’s instinct decides. There is no wrong call — only honest ones.

Solmara

Speaks first — the past, the law, what has already been established.

Vaelith

Speaks second — the present, what is in motion right now.

Nyzorith

Speaks last — the hidden truth underneath, the thing the situation has not yet admitted.

Three Voices

Together the three voices form a single statement. That statement is your reading.

Every rune carries two faces — Light and Shadow. The celestial state at the moment of casting determines which face speaks. Set your season and dominant sun before you read. If you are casting during Nyrrvyn, every rune reads Shadow without exception.

There are 512 possible three-way combinations. Twenty-four of them carry a proper name. If your cast produces one, it will be shown.

The Triskelion does not predict. It illuminates.

Cast honestly. Read what falls.
