How to play
Welcome to Dicesongs, a versatile overlay system designed to enhance your favorite role-playing games. Ideal for veterans of Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder aficionados, or homebrew RPG creators, Dicesongs adds a layer of excitement and unpredictability to your gaming experience. Drawing on over 35 years of RPG expertise, we’ve developed a dynamic and enjoyable way to play that caters to everyone.
Getting Started
When you gather your party around the table, the first step is to determine the order in which each player will embark on their epic journey. Unlike traditional games, we champion the underdogs and those who often roll poorly (just like me). In Dicesongs, lower numbers are your friends, and they always emerge victorious.
Discover Your World
Before you dive into the adventure, you’ll need to decide where your story unfolds on the world of Ertha. Here’s how it works:
Northern or Southern Hemisphere: Roll a D4 (1-2 = Northern / 3-4 = Southern) to choose your hemisphere.
Select Your Region: Roll another D20 to pinpoint your starting location within your chosen hemisphere.
Specific Starting Point:
The Game Master (GM), Dungeon Master (DM), or Realm Weaver (RW) look at the maps of the realms to exact starting location and has the option to either use the Adventure Begins section found in the GM Tools, where they have a plethora of options to have the next player roll for.
Just below this section, the GM/DM/RW can then either pick the appropriate micro-adventure they wish to send the party to, or just use the tool Beauty of Randomness to spark up an ad-hoc adventure that just will unfold before. Your eyes. There is also a Questing Tree that explains how each quest evolves, for those who wish for a familiar way to play.
